Subject: Re: [AN1x] Additional synth to accompany the AN1x

Hi Stephen !
the Nova is a pretty good synth, so unless you're tired of this kind of
sounds why don't you use it together with your AN1x?
Maybe do you want to add different tones ?
My favorite musical stuff (with keyboards, i play guitars too) is mostly
the "kraut rock" of the 70's, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze,
Kraftwerk.... OK, i got no modular Moog, no ARP 2600, too much
expensive, bulky and unreliable collector's gear ! And i don't like too
much software synths, i have some so called "software emulations" of
these glorious ancestors.... no knobs, no keyboard, you have to carry a
computer, add some master keyboard and MIDI controllers, and the sound
is often not worth the money.
I use my AN1x with 2 cheap and now obsolete "rare birds", an EVS1
Evolution (FM + PM + additive synthesis) and a Red Sound Elevata
(virtual analog). Each one has its own kind of sounds. The AN1x knobs
allow to tweak "live" some parameters of the EVS1, sometimes great for
FM pad sounds. The Red Sound V.A. adds some raw or edgy tones (12
dB/octave VCF ) and stunning "cosmic" FX sounds. Added with some
"robotic" sequencer lines from the AN1x you can get (IMHO) a decent "re
issue" of this kind of music.
What i would like to try : the Creamware "clones" of the Mini Moog or
the ARP Odyssey (but i've been told they are not very reliable), and the
Arturia Origin (interesting concept, a hardware platform for software
plugins). And again 2 small companies, like the now defunct Evolution
and Red Sound we've seen previously...
Cheers and a happy new year to you all.
