hi jon,
I must aologise that my question was so vague, I didn't expect to hear from
the an1x guru himself! Thanks for the great logic environments, they have
helped me out a lot.
I was refering to the checkboxes in the OMS midi device setup dialogue. I
have my an1x plugged into the interface and switched on. The oms setup
recognises my fw1804 but no mention is made of the an1x. Also no checkboxes
appear to allow me to select the fw1804 port.
I have OMS 2.3.8 installed in classic. I have the drivers for the fw1804
installed in the OMS folder (not the opcode folder). The fw1804 driver is
1.4.0
For further information I am running logic pro 7.2.3 on a g5 ppc dual 2 ghz.
I am using osx 10.4.9.
I am starting to think that my problem maybe that I have a firewire
interface. Do you think I would need to have a second usb interface for the
an1x to allow me to use an1xedit? Any other ideas on how I could get this up
and running under osx? What would be a good cost effective usb interface
solution if I needed to go down this route?
many thanks,
doc from oz

I'm not certain I understand what you're asking?
You said "Unusually when I try to do a new studio setup no checkboxes
appear next to the
port I wish to select."
You don't mean to say the Modem and Printer ports from the OMS Driver
Search do you?
Or do you mean from the OMS MIDI Device Setup dialog? If the latter, which
is what I
suspect, then have already connected your AN1x to the appropriate In/Out
ports on the
FW-1804 beforehand?
I don't own a FW-1804, but I did download the Tascam drivers and install
them
successfully in Classic running under 10.4.11. Under Panther, and later,
if your USB MIDI
Interface had an OS 9 capable device driver you could run OMS 2.3.8 within
Classic for your
OMS compatible applications to work with your legacy hardware. I've done
this successfully
with AN1xEdit. I've never attempted this with a Firewire MDI Interface,
but it might work if
Apple's API allows Classic to access the Firewire ports as it does the USB
ports on a PPC.
Let me know how it works out for you.
Jon
