the volume or control pedal are different because they're not switches
but potentiometers used either as a variable resistor or as a voltage
divider. If the jack has 2 pole + ground (stereo jack), it is a classic
voltage divider pot. If there is only the tip and the sleeve (mono jack)
the pot is wired as a variable resistor (cursor + one end wired
together) . I've never looked at this ....but i have to do.
