I've been in contact with Yamaha and they are going to
try and recommend someone local. I looked the area up
in the listings and wasn't able to get ahold of anyone
so far myself.
I was tempted to just take a loss on this synth. I
hadn't even played it really because I've been
spending so much time trying to figure out what's
wrong with it. Well, I put it back together and
started editing a few patches. Now I know why after 10
years there's still an active user group for this
synth. It's quite expressive. I loved my old cs1x when
I was a teen for pads, but this is amazing. I have a
broken, but usable alesis ION(which I've had an
incredible amount of trouble with), and am trying to
decide which to fix, which to sell, and which to
keep...
The Ion is a very capable synth, but I'm afraid many
corners were cut in production. I've had the main
outputs die on 3 separate units, ghost knobs, broken
keys, etc.
The reason I'm unsure I want the An1x is when
something is altering the sound and I want to change
it, it's hard for me to find. I suppose I'll get the
hang of the matrix again? I'm used to one knob/one
function, or at least one knob/one menu.
In response to the offer on fixing/buying the AN1x
from me, I will say this: I very well may be
interested in one of those options, and I thank you
for them. I do, however, need to spend some time with
this synth and decide if I want to keep it around.
I'll also wait for yamaha to get back to me about
repair options.
Thanks again for all the help. Hopefully I'll fall for
this synth and get her up and running again soon.
