Its best to use the AN1X as a slave to MIDI clock i.e use your drumcomputer as the master clock and set the temp of the AN1X to MIDI.
Strangley the AN1X won't respond to MIDI start so the way to get around this is to hold down a key on the AN1X then press play on the main clock source and everything should spring into life.
A word of warning tho if your patch uses the tempo delay it sometimes can a bit tempremental and and trys to corrects the timing which resulting in little crackles as the delay keeps reseting itself.

In general, early synths have left the clock master to the drum machines & recorders and let the synths sync to those. Later synths that joined the class of "workstations" provided a MIDI clock to external devices as the workstations had internal MIDI sequencers. Many non-workstations still rely on having an external MIDI clock if they were to sync to an external device.
The work around to have the AN1x receive external MIDI clock is a good viable alternative.

The AN1x does not transmit MIDI Clock. You can synchronize the AN1x Arp/Seq to an
external clock - such as a drum computer - but not the other way around (as you've found.)
