Hello Rob !
have a look at the feedback setting is a good idea.
The synthesis method of the DX7 was very different with FM (a sine wave
modulating the frequency of another one in something virtual called an
operator), the AN1X mimicks or re creates digitally the VCO-VCF-VCA path
of analog synths (the classic waveforms are data tables send to a DSP
that performs filtering, amplitude modulation and effects). So the
comparison could be irrelevant.
I never notice such glitches but i will lend my ears now ....
