You need to disable the Punk setting.
Otherwise, it won't play without slapping it around with extreme
vibration. Lots of screaming in the microphone helps.

.... or, you could take off the back and make sure all chips and
connectors are making good contact. There's no specific place to look.
Just re-seat all of them to be safe. Corrosion is a common malady.
