Hi Tom
I think a keytrack value of +32-33 gives an approx even keytrack across the octave range however if your looking for true VCF self oscillation I dont think the AN1x being one of the first generation VAs will achieve this convincingly (Nords dont even try). In fact I have never heard a convincing self oscillation from any VA synth and even the new wave of software analogues cant quite get there either imho.
The best synth Ive found for VCF self oscillation has to be the Waldorf Pulse which will perfectly track and stay in tune across the entire octave range and stay rock solid which is more than I can say for most vintage analogues.
I find it best to judge a synth on its merits rather than what it cant do as NO synth is ever perfect so instead enjoy the depths of one the most underrated synths ever made especially when you get into the control matrix and the motion/step sequencers.
Have fun!
Rob. :-)

getting deeper into this meanest and bluest of all mean mechines I
today tried to really tune the filter (as to play melodies on filter
AND oscillators). And it seemed to me with cutoff and key track alone
it can't be done. Has anybody already worked out to do so with
additional modulation? Might save me an hour. Thank you
Tom
ps I love it, though I must admit I asked myself why use it for sounds
other then mean and aggressive.
