Subject: Re: An1x sound versus PLG150AN within the Motif ES

Even if you do get the Motif, keep the AN. It's a lot easier than
using the PLG card from within the Motif.

I just traded my two AN cards for an AN1X. I found it very tedious to
always need software to turn off an arp if I liked a preset patch
sound. Also, on the AN1X, you edit a sound...you hit store and
confirm. On the PLG card, you edit a sound via software and must store
it as a file on the host synth. If you don't, it's gone. Then, you
must either "AUTOLD" it or manually load it back the next time you
boot the synth.

After having the AN1X for a few days, my opinion of Yamaha's AN
technology has increased. Basically, I like the sound of the AN1X
better than the AN cards regardless of its host.

The Motif ES is a fantastic board though. If you can swing getting it
and keeping the 1X, that would be ideal.

The reason for this inquiry is the one you guessed. I have both the
An1x and the PLG150An, and although the An1x is my board of choice,
the guys in the band are really pushing for the Motif ES. I use the
Motif ES almost strictly for lead sounds, and the An1x does these
sounds so well, but it's almost a third of the ES7's weight, so,
that's why I gravitate to the An1x!!
