Another method of producing 'warmth' I use on the AN1X and on some other synths is to have a guitar type overdrive/distortion set at a really low drive and have a high shelving eq (around 800hz-2khz) to cut out the nasty high end frequencies with a little boost around 200hz. This gives a kinda pseudo valve warmth.

brutality of this MOnSTer underestimated synth. This kinda cold,
glassy, cutting EDGE outshines everything. To give those sounds back
some "bottom" I (miss)use the VCA-feedback.
Something that helps ME programming is: I no longer try to make sounds
work on 5 oktaves, when I need only 2. Thus keyboard-tracking, which
could eat up DAYS on a DX7, no longer matters.
