Same here. Nearsighted at arount 4.0, so for very close things I just
take off my glasses.
Been doing SO-IC and as you said 0805, and the occasional 0603 for
decoupling caps (love to have them as close as possible to the target).
The only magnification I use is a jewelers' magnifier for inspection and
for reading tiny component labeling.
