<p>Same here. Nearsighted at arount 4.0, so for very close things I
just take off my glasses.</p>
<p>Been doing SO-IC and as you said 0805, and the occasional 0603
for decoupling caps (love to have them as close as possible to the
target).</p>
<p>The only magnification I use is a jewelers' magnifier for
inspection and for reading tiny component labeling.</p>

a comfortable and usable form of magnification for the
soldering itself. Doing 0805 and soic I generally haven't had
any trouble without, despite being very nearsighted all my
life. I do have a headset magnifier and a desktop USB
microscope but they're for inspection not soldering.</div>
