It's pretty well understood that power supply design was not Sequential
Circuits' strong point. :)

I prefer discrete components over custom ICs.  I'd rather see something
using discrete 3:8 analog demuxes and quad opamps with individual hold
up caps.  Assembly cost/time is far greater than a monolithic solution
but it will be repairable in 10 years.  Unfortunately the replacements I
made in 1997 used PDA508s which are now cost prohibitive for
replacement.  Had I used TL084s it'd still be repairable now and in 10
years, not that any of my PDA508 based boards have died yet.
