Putting in a ground connection for scope probes and labeling it is  
super helpful.

Labeling the function of trimpots on the PC board helps a lot.

Also if a certain test point is supposed to be at some voltage,  
labeling the voltage on the silkscreen helps.

I have also seen short instructions like, "+15.00 volts adjust TR4"
