[sdiy] Lead-free solder `~~`

The lead-free stuff from Maplin in the UK is crap. (IIRC from a previous
thread, it's the same as the budget stuff from Rapid)
It doesn't flow freely for soldering or tinning, even at high temperatures.
I actually threw my Maplin lead-free solder away (*gulp*) - it was that
useless..... 

You would have thought that tinning nice chunky 1/4" jack sockets was a safe
use with higher iron temperatures, but no, it still gave me grief.

There's undoubtedly some good unleaded solder out there - personally, I
won't bother looking - Synth DIY should be fun :-)
