I've had problems with different brands of 4046
phase locked loop in analog applications.

My advice is, unless a part is specifically listed as "second source"
(that is, a part made by a second manufacturer under licence so that
it meets the military requirement of at least two independent 
sources) you should get some from each supplier & try them out.
At least if you are making quantities of something.
