Actually, although not true in that case, there are other examples of 
the different manufacturers' chips not working the same.

The classic 4000 series of chips have some very odd differences. The 
general specs are the same, but some of the more complex devices would 
have different specs on their more esoteric I/O.

The biggest one to impact me in Synth-DIY is the 4013. The MC141013 
[Motorola] behaves subtly different to the HEP4013 [Phillips] when you 
use its own outputs to feed back into itself to form a divide by two 
circuit. In that case its all about settling time before the next clock, 
but it can catch the unwary.
