Read the different mfrs specs first - there are often differences between
various mfrs version of the "same" chip. Had some trouble once with Analog
Devices AD7524 and TI TLC7524 dacs having different abs. max supply ratings.
Interesting case is the old Motorola MC741S op amp... sure it is a 741 op
amp in most respects... but the slew rate is 20x faster than the normal 741.
