An MN3007 should work fine, just reduce the timing cap to about half. Those
are good things to monkey around with to get the performance you want
anyway.
MN3007's are no longer in production, but I consider them to be completely
ubiquitous even on eBay. You can either find them or cheap old Radio Shack
gear that used them. Finding one should be a trivial matter.
Heck I might even be willing to trade one of mine if you have some cool
parts you jsut can't figure out what to do with.
A TDA1022 is not a drop in replacement by any means. Stick to the MN300X.
