Yup, This looks interesting.

Just checking the datasheet: in Figure 1, pots are simply potential
dividers between GND<->DVD (as they want to call it). Instant voltage
control.

With such a low clock speed requirements and EEPROM interface + 8
external memory locations, maybe bit banging from an additional
microcontroller would make this very versatile fx unit. (uC generating
a variable clock and expanded memory storage)
