According to the EN index I have, there are 4 refs, which I *very* quickly
skimmed:

33(8): this has expo control of some sorts
53(15): linear control
92(2): this just says there is a circuit in the 'Mus Eng Hbk', which appears
to be chp. 3h - two circuits there, both linear control
98(17): another expo control version, running off -15V only (!?)
