Thanks for the link! Biggest difference between that and what I'm 
talking about is that I'd use stereo jacks and plugs, mainly so that 
I could have attenuating pins (as does EMS, right?).

I guess it wouldn't be cheap, but neither are Synthis and Ghielmetti 
pin matrix boards.
