Most common problems with the Opera 6/DK600:

--the power supply runs VERY hot; it's not uncommon for PS components to
die after a number of years. First thing to do is check the power outputs.

--the backup battery is mounted in the middle of the CPU board (underneath
the keyboard). It will most likely have melted, causing all kinds of havoc
on the board. This can be repaired; be prepared to spend some time. (the
schematics are available online at Sander Myers' site).

--having looked inside, you'll see an appalling number of DIP cables &
sockets. These can oxidize over time (not visible, but enough to cause
high capacitance and intermittent contact). All should be cleaned with
contact cleaner & tested for good contact.
