If you've got a basic sawtooth wave, you can add a sub-octave
squarewave to it to generate a sub-octave sawtooth wave. The sawtooth
"fills in" the missing harmonics of the square wave and makes it a saw.
I've also tried starting with low frequency triangle waves and using
precision rectifier circuits to generate triangle waves an octave
higher.
