I've had great luck with the Cirrus/Crystal CS43XX series of I2S stereo 
DACs.

Very flexible clock rates, 3.3V and 5V parts in the family and they're 
extremely inexpensive (think < $5 in small quantity). Plus they 
interface nicely with the dsPIC codec port. :)

The only downside is that they're SMD, so it takes a bit more effort to 
hook them up. That's what SMD-DIP adapters are for though.
