[sdiy] D to A convertor for wavetable osc

Hello folks,

I'm looking for a 16-bit DAC to use for building a wavetable
oscillator. Ideally I want a Stereo DAC with I2S serial input.

The Philips TDA1543 would be perfect, and seems highly rated by nutty
audiophiles, but apparently has gone out of production. It even comes
in a 8 pin DIP package.

Does anyone know:

1) Where could I get a few TDA1543's for non-audiophile prices?

2) A good substitute, or a similar chip?

Thanks!
Tom
