I would remove the motor assembly and check for faulty solder connections.
What happens when they lose speed regulation is normally loss of tach
signal, so it recieves no speed feedback pulse and tries to speed up to
compensate.  Common problem with DD tables. I have a Technics SL-5200 that
suffered this until I inspected the motor pcb and found several stressed
solder joints. Easy fix.
