I am not familiar with this player, but, generally, the direct drive 
turntables used a servo motor.  Sounds to be like the encoder, be it an 
optical encoder, or a tachometer generator mounted on the motor, has become 
defective.  The tachometers are difficult to fix, although, it may just 
need new brushes.  It may also be the commutator has worn out.

Optical encoders are not going to be easy to fix either.

It is also possible that it could be an electronic problem in servo motor 
controller.
