[sdiy] drum machine to BPM software

me == has digital drum machine
tempo == arbitrary units, not BPM
looking for == software to take audio in and render BPM from metronome
signal in BPM, down to at least 1/10th of a BPM

I've hooked it up to my Roland SBX-80, but, it only gives out whole numbers.
I really would rather avoid recording it into my computer, highlighting 4
beats or a few bars and calculating time
so, need something that takes audio in (I'd rather not wire up a transistor
to my space bar!)

 any freeware solutions out there (running XP)?
