That's a very good point.  The more you attenuate the LFO wave at  
your modulation destinations, the smaller those steps will become,  
and the less apparent they will be to the ear.  We rarely do LFO  
pitch sweeps that are greater than one octave, and even our BIG  
filter sweeps are usually not larger than four or five octaves.
