[sdiy] Roland RE-201 motor lubrication?

Hi,
Thanks for the tips.
I opened it up, and it turned out that plastic screw
that covers access to the main cylinder on the motor
was just slightly loose. The motor shaft was rubbing against
the top thread and creating the vibration.
I'm sure the bearings are aging and the shaft has a little more
play then before, because, I didn't change anything to
cause it to start making so much racket.
With some adjustment it's back to normal!

Didn't look like it needed any lubricant/grease in there.
Plus that lube looked pretty specific, and I was hesitant to
add anything.

Thanks again for the advice.

Pete

I've opened a Re-501 motor as much as possible, there seemed to be
plenty of
lubricant still in there, but just turning it manually seemed to free
it up
a lot, and after that it worked perfectly. Also make sure that it isn't
something with the pinch roller that is making it irregular, if the
motor
spindle spins fine when echo is not engaged that's a sign that the pinch
roller could be at fault.

I wouldn't want to spray anything in the motor, the lube looked like a
grease/ vaseline looking stuff, not very wd-40.
