Only if thr return current is forced through the wire in the
pair...   The wire back to the source is probably the perferred
path (current will like to minimize the inductive loop... its the
shortest return path)

I sometimes go so far as to insulate the jacks from the panel. Now I'm
SURE what the return path is...
