Regarding the Bulgin connectors, I notice that Bulgin have redesigned 
their plug so that it is safer. It was always the plug that was at fault 
rather than the socket. There was simply no decent insulation or cable 
grip. The new design seems to have fixed that, at the expense of a much 
bigger housing.

There is now no warning about using these plugs in exposed conditions 
like there was in the past.

I'll have to order a new one up from Rapid and see what they are like. 
It would certainly easier replacing the unsafe plug than replacing the 
round Bulgin socket with a rectangular IEC.

Safe and historic at the same time maybe???
