Fist step is to complete a board; then I know exactly which Sub D pin
will carry which signal.
Next is soldering wires that are long enough to each pin of the female Sub D
that will be mounted on the front panel. All these connections are fixed
at the Sub D with heat shrink tube, and the wires are labeled with tiny
adhesive paper labels.
Then the female Sub D is mounted on the front panel. The wires now come
out from the iny space between panel and connector.
Each wire is then shortened to the right length and soldered to its
destination
(potentiometer, matrix, etc.)
There will be *many* GND wires (true star grounding, sometimes several
GND wires per module), while the +/-15V is daisy-chained (and filtered
towards the individual GND on each board).
