When I was a teenager, my brother and a friend and myself built a
lighting
rig to use with local bands. We had a board with six off-the-shelf
dimmers
at one end of a homemade 25' snake, and a bunch of spots at the other
end.
Since we were broke, we decided to economize on wire for the snake by
combining all of the neutrals onto one conductor. Six plugs came back
to the board, but only one of them had the neutral blade connected.
We had to make sure that one always stayed plugged in.
To this day, I don't know which is more incredible: the fact that we
would,
in our blissful ignorance, do something so stupid, or the fact that the
damn thing actually worked...
