Hey I think I can make a synth-diy connection in THIS thread.

Hmmm where to start? OK I'm digging this from old college memories or older.
I've been teaching myself chemistry and physics since I was 7 or 8.

I think the ionizing radiation even in tiny amounts either has a galvanic or
some sort of ioinic action that inhibits corrosion. Making it a part of the
alloy is a big help since you don't have to worry about dinging of any
prottecting plating that also may have a corrosion inhibiting effect due to
galvanic action (like "galvanizing" steel with zinc).

I think using DU to make steel resistant to corrosion is a much safer use
than using it in munitions.

Uh the synth-diy connection is in those thermionic tubes (like thryratrons
and regulator tubes) that have thorium in them to transport electrons
instead of or in addition to using a heater. I suppose that's a tenuous
connection but what they hay. Ionization is what makes them both work.
