[sdiy] rene's ms20 filter clone questions

hi,

i built several stompboxes (distortion, phaser, flanger) and put them 
into a custom rack. now there is some space left,
and i´d like to fill it with a clone of the ms20 filter, which i found 
schematics on renes page for.

the thing is, that i am not really sure if i actually have some use for 
that sort of filter.
i want to know if i can use the filter to process audio (be it from an 
elecric guitar, a x0xb0x, a bassdrum, a turntable or whatever) or if 
this filter
is only useful in a "modular" environment - with vcos and vcas and all 
that (which i dont have - yet).

also: there is a point labelled "pitch" which is an input, i guess. what 
does it do and what am i supposed to input in it?
furthermore there are two potis labelled Cv1 and Cv2 - cutoff? but why 
two of them? ah wait - this is a stereo pot, yes?

sorry if these are kind of stupid questions, but please consider myself 
a newbie.
