Here I go spouting Surplus Surplus again, but, a good source of
multicoloured wire is... surplus multiconductor cable! I used to buy rolls
of wire, now I pick up "scrap" 20foot sections of multiconductor cable,
usually 22ga or 24ga and strip off the outside insulator while watching TV.
You'll end up with a whole bunch of different colour decent quality wire.
Probably enough that you can do an entire module with only 6" or so of
original cable without using any colour twice. Probably still worthwhile to
pick up a roll of Red and Black though, I especially chew through black
while doing "star" grounding. Jameco has some nice stranded hookup
wire and I'm sure mouser&friends do also.

Don't buy solid core wire. You'll regret it later when you bend a wire one
too many times and it snaps off ( Electroharmonix Effects anyone? ). I also
would suggest go no smaller then 24ga. Smaller wire tends to have fewer
strands and acts more like solid-core from a breakage standpoint.
