It makes sense, unless you resort to inherently bandlimited techniques, 
such as BLIT or Fourier series... (Both of which are difficult in a uC.)

Also it with a higher sample rate you can make your wavetables 
bandlimited, and still they would not sound too dull at lower frequencies.
