Why haunting?
Honestly, I think that many more people would go into programming if it
still were that easy as it was back in the good old times[tm] with BASIC
on your favorite home computer.
Niklaus Wirth may object BASIC and seeing it as an instrument of the
devil; but its purpose never was to teach people structural programming.
Its purpose was to give the average Joe an easy to learn, easy to use
programming language. Which it doubtlessly was.

Just look at Stroustrup's "C++ Programming". A bible of several hundred
pages long just to get the essence of C++. A language which needs a that
thorough *introduction* is flawed by design...
I also prefer C, it's my favorite macro assembler :)

Get a Xilinx ML403 and figure out under which circumstances it likes to
boot what from the Flash card and when not :)
