What about 3M's Super 77 spray adhesive? ($13.95 at AES)

Unfortunately, some mail-order places, like Antique Electronic Supply
(http://www.tubesandmore.com) won't sell it to people living in
certain states... not sure if the brush-on Tolex glue that AES sells
is as good to use; it costs $14.95 for a quart.

Any thoughts on removing old tolex first, versus putting the new tolex
over top of the old tolex? I've got an old Silvertone guitar amp (has
anyone here modified one of these to replace the tiny output
transformer used with a pair of 6L6 tubes, and to replace the little
reverb tank?) that I'm finally getting around to restoring (again) and
the case is made from particle board, not plywood; I suspect that it
may fall apart if I attempt to remove the old tolex. Perhaps I should
just build a new case from plywood, even if I can't get some of the
contours the same.
