5532 is pretty demanding of power supply current, and low input
impedance
for best results. Have not tried the AD275... whats it like ???

The 4558 is an excellent low noise opamp !!!
When I was a newby (yes... newby... thats what we used to call newbys
before
all you newbies showed up on the scene... sometime in the last century
or so :^)
I took apart my Slavedriver guitar interface... and was HORRIFIED to
discover the
4558 (which I foolishly thought was like a 1458, without looking at the
data sheet)... and ripped them out to replace them with some superior
opamp that
surely my employer would have in stock. WRONG MOVE newby... I found
that it was
a better part for that application than anything we had, and i could not
find a better one, even for money !!!
Happy ending... I had removed them carefully, and used sockets. Put them
back in
where they remain to this day.
lesson learned... Engineers specify parts for a reason. Sometimes you
have to decide... was the designer fvcking stupid... or were they so
clever I can't follow
their train of thought. Usually its the latter...

Another AMEN. 741 can be a GOOD thing. They don't suffer from "phase
reversal" when overdriven, have symmetrical source sink characteristics,
and are almost
indestructible !!!

Hmm havent tried that...

Hmmm... isnt that one of those octal deals in the hermetic glass package
??? ;^P
