The problem is that the JU-6 doesn't have VCOs.
I guess that's why they didn't implement a monophonic mode (as opposed
to it's hardest competition, the Korg Polysix, which had VCOs)
Even though the waveshaping is analogue, the timing / pitch control is
not, so you'd have to detune the voices in the digital domain.I doubt there
was enough resolution to do this, back then.
