[sdiy] Anyone ever use an AY3-8910?

Yep. They were used *EXTENSIVELY* in arcade games from 1981 until the late
80s-early 90s when they faded in favor of the Yamaha FM stuff. Never seen
one go bad. They're not rare....you can pick 'em up for around 3$ from
online arcade game parts suppliers. They *could* sound decent with some
effort (prolly not for sdiy, 3 square waves just ain't that interesting).
Frogger made good use of them and Crater Raider had the doubled/detuned
oscillator thing going for it. Many games from the lesser companies were
perfect examples of how *not* to use the AY-3-9810.
