There is nothing wrong with switchers...per say. I have used switchers for
powering low noise electronics that is even more critical than
audio...however...it has to be done right. Done wrong...and you will not
be able to get rid of the noise...trouble is...a lot of commercial
switchers are not done right...I have found that if I want good low noise
from a switching power supply...I have to do it myself. Even so, if you
are careful with your grounding and power routing...even with most
commercial supplies, you can get pretty good performance.
