There was a block diagram for the MTM published in one of the reviews
online. dBX noise reduction was used.... and probably multi-phase parallel
multiplexing with differential I/O of the BBD/CCD to get better
performance. One of the old Dynacord delays used a bunch of ancient NE503
BBD chips - these were intended for use as character buffers in video
monitors by the manufacturer.
There is one dual 455-stage CCD still (?) in production - the Fairchild
CCD321A - the specs state that this chip can be clocked at 20 MHz or higher.
This was also intended for video delay use although one grade of the chip is
tested specifically for audio. 120.00 US in single quantity last time I
asked. The audio specs do not look as good as a regular BBD although much
shorter delays could be achieved.
The DM-1 delay pedal used the Reticon R5101 CCD chip (2000 samples)....
later versions used the MN3005 and MN3205. Not the same chip as the Intel
5101 static RAM in case anyone is wondering.
