Not really royalties, but I have to program the microcontrollers
for Virtual-Music...

If you have a look at P6retro2 you will see my name here...
This design is also based on a PIC16F84, and also works very fine!
But it has to be installes by a cable connection and so it is not
as smart as the virtual music solution that is placed on the 8048
microcontroller socket. So the installation is much easier for the
Virtual-Music solution.
For the P6retro or P6retro2 solution you don't have to pay anything
but you have to do all the work by yourself... (PCB, Buying parts,
programming the microcontroller, soldering, testing,...).
So you have to decide:
1. spend some money and save time,
or
2. spend some time and save money.
If you don't calculate the costs for your time solution 2 is cheaper
and you will have some fun building your own. If you calculate your
time like beeing at work you will be much cheaper with solution 1
as you will need quite a lot of time...
