16bits give you 1 part in 64k resolution +- the error, which in standard cheap
16bit units is 4 parts...  I tend to like 12bit units with 1/2part error, they are
usually pretty cheap compared to 16bit/1LSB units.

As Paul S pointed out so well a while back, Resolution != Precision.
