Bought mine in '84. Everyone at work thought I was daft to spend $80 on a
"soldering iron". Apparently after using a WTCPx all day at work they liked
to go home and use some POS from Radio Shack.
One of the most useful and reliable tools I've ever owned in my life.

It's strange that I've seen just about every part on one fail but I can't
recall a tip that was still usable failing to operate the thermostat. Maybe
it just never happened to me.
