[sdiy] DIN / MIDI socket error? Damage?

Well, there *was* a time here in Europe when DIN connectors have been in
use for audio equipment, but AFAIK this went out of fashion around the
80s.
Even my (japanese) 1978 cassette tape deck has one, wired in parallel to
the usual RCA jacks.
